What is Compendle?
Compendle is an innovative and user-friendly approach to publishing course materials online. It was designed to help professionals in the education and training sectors to manage their course materials without the need of an IT expert. For more information take the tour.
Who uses Compendle?
Anybody who wants to provide extraordinary learning without extraordinary technical know-how. Compendle has been designed primarily to help those in the education and training sectors to publish their course materials without the need for an IT expert. Compendle packages courses to integrate into Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) and Learning Management Systems (LMSs).
Is there anything to download or install?
Compendle is accessed through your browser so there is nothing to download or install. The only requirements are an up-to-date browser such as Internet Explorer 6 or Firefox 2 and Flash Player 9 which is a free standard browser plug-in. It is available here if you do not already have it.

What materials can I publish on my course?
Any digital materials that your students can view such as text files (PDF, Word, Excel, Powerpoint), audio files (Podcasts, MP3, WAV), video files (Quicktime, AVI, MPEG), and websites. You can also add any e-learning resources you already have.
Are my resources safe and secure?
Any resources that you have uploaded are stored in a fully secure location and can only be accessed by your account.
How are the courses published in Compendle?
Compendle courses are published as a single zip file, packaged to SCORM and IMS packaging standards.

Is Compendle compatible with Moodle/Blackboard/WebCT etc?
Yes, Compendle packages your course in a zip format fully compatible with current online learning environments. For further information, visit the Moodle and Blackboard page.
Can I publish my course on a CD-ROM?
Yes, Compendle will package your course as a full set of resources ready to burn onto an easily distribuatable CD-Rom.
Can I publish my course on the internet?
Yes, Compendle packages your course in a zip format which can be uploaded to an intranet or the internet.
Does Compendle work on a Mac?
Yes, Compendle will work as long as you have a current browser such as Internet Explorer 6 or Firefox 2.

Payment
Is my payment secure?
We want our customers to feel safe when they create their Compendle account so our payment system is provided by Worldpay, one of the world’s leading payment service providers. Transactions through Worldpay are encrypted to the highest standard to ensure that the information passed is secure and tamper-proof using 128 Bit SSL.
What types of payment do you accept?
We take payment via WorldPay. They accept the following payment methods:

Are there any hidden fees?
All you pay for is your account. There are no hidden registration or cancellation fees.

Can I upgrade/downgrade at any time?
Yes, there is an upgrade option in Compendle which you can click to upgrade your account at any time. This will keep any Compendle projects you have already started.You can downgrade if you are within the limitations of the package you wish to downgrade to. For example, if you have a Compendle PLUS account and wish to downgrade to the free option but have more than 50MB of course materials uploaded you will have to remove enough materials to go below 50MB.
What happens if I upgrade?
You will be billed for your first month immediately upon upgrading.
What happens if I downgrade?
Our account will be adjusted for your next due monthly payment. You will keep your Compendle project as long as you're within the limitations of the package to which you wish to downgrade. You will not be refunded for the remainder of the month.
Will I be charged automatically each month after I open my account?
Yes, your account will be automatically renewed every month until you choose to cancel it.

What is SCORM?
Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) is a collection of specifications that direct how e-learning is created, packaged and delivered to learners.
Which version of SCORM is Compendle conformant to?
Compendle uses the SCORM 1.2 tracking standard and IMS 1.1.3 content packaging standard.
What is IMS?
The IMS Global Learning Consortium is a global organisation which shapes the growth and impact of learning technology in the education and corporate sectors. IMS provides leadership in the learning industry through various means including the adoption of practice standards.
What is a Virtual Learning Environment/ Learning Management System?
A Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) or Learning Management System (LMS) is an online software system used by organisations to support teaching, training and learning. Examples of these include Blackboard, WebCT and Moodle.
